The team is nonprofit 501(c,3) organization consisting of volunteers from multiple disciplines including fire fighters, medics/EMTs , a Chaplin, mental health professionals from the VA, county crisis programs and clinics. All team members undergo training in both group and individual support based on the CISM model which is used all over the world. Often many of the team members pursue additional trauma training to provide even more profound support.
The CISM Team of Butler County’s mission is to provide support to first responders, schools, local business and, the community at large following traumatic events. Support is provided through proactive education, immediate crisis assessment and intervention, post critical incident follow-up services, and appropriate referral services to mitigate the harmful effects of stress on individuals who have experienced a traumatic event.
